Capturing my friend's engagements

My favorite thing EVER to photograph is proposals. Ahhhhh. They are just so special. This last year, I got to photograph four, and two of them were my very close friends!

First, let me tell you about my friend Dani. Dani, oh man what a blessing her friendship is to me, I met her my freshman year of college and she always knew how to point me closer to the Lord. We got to share sooooooo many laughs together. I'm grateful for her. In the summer of 2022, I got to capture her fiancé Eric proposing to her. Eric literally could not be more perfect for Dani. He talks so highly of her and his love for her is so prevalent. I just love them together.

The day of the proposal, I drove my boyfriend's car (so Dani wouldn't recognize it) to the park where we were meeting and hid in the back. Eric drove Dani and parked in the same lot. They walked up to a lookout where he was planning to get on one knee. I snook out of the car through the trees until I had the perfect view of them. I pulled my camera up just in time for Eric to propose and absolutely shock Dani. She had no idea! Her reaction was priceless and I was totally crying behind the camera. It was such a sweet moment. Check out a few of my favorite photos below.

Now, I must tell you about my friend Cassidy. She is one of the best friend's I have ever had. I have never met someone that i have so much in common with. She's my favorite person to drink coffee with, take pictures and edit, do devos, and simply just talk with. We also met my freshman year and soon found out we had the same major and minor, and went to the same church! Cassidy was and is such a good role model for me and she is one of the huge reasons why I decided to be an intern at our church. Now, I'm going on year 2 with that same internship. Cassidy got to capture my engagement back in November and I am SO thankful she was there. We cried a lot together before that moment. She has always been such a great support system for Tate and I's relationship.

When Caleb, Cassidy's now fiancé, told me he was going to have a ring in a few weeks, I was SO EXCITED. I told him I would be more than happy to capture the moment - if he wanted. Sure enough, on December 7th, 2022 I got to witness and capture such a beautiful moment for them. They love each other so much and I am so thankful God brought them together. Caleb made a trail of candle lights and hung around pictures of the two of them together in the gazebo where he got down on one knee. I won't lie, I was a little nervous because it was pitch black outside besides the Christmas lights hanging around the gazebo and park. However, it worked out perfect and I was able to sneak off quickly so that they could just enjoy the moment to themselves. What a night to remember.

Dani and Cassidy, if you read this someday, just know I love you both dearly and I'm so glad I could help you capture this moment you can cherish for the rest of your lives. What an honor.

If you're reading this and need a photographer to capture the moment - I'M HERE. I will cry with you.

With love,

Carly
